Etchings

In intaglio printmaking, the image is created on a metal plate by engraving or etching. The image is transferred from the printing plate to paper by making a print. Ink is applied to the plate, and the excess is wiped off so that it remains only in the grooves. The plate is printed onto dampened paper using an intaglio press.
